“Celebrating Mary is, above all, to remember our Mother, to remember that we are not and never will be an orphan people. We have a Mother!… And where there is the Mother, brothers may quarrel but a sense of unity will always prevail.” Pope Francis

In preparation for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday December 12th, the parish community of Saints Peter and Paul & Epiphany celebrated a Triduum in her honor which consisted of the recitation of the Holy Rosary after daily Mass, followed by a reflection on a particular aspect of Our Lady’s appearance at the hill of Tepeyac back in 1531. On Friday December 9th, as the Church honored the Feast of San Juan Diego, we were able to deepen our understanding on the virtues and life of this indigenous man whom Our Lady chose to be her personal messenger and instrument of evangelization in the new world. On Saturday December 10th, we hear Monsignor Eduardo Chavez’s scientific and symbolic description of the tilma of San Juan Diego in which Our Lady’s image was miraculously imprinted. His detailed explanation of some of the images found on the tilma gives a great testimony to the love of Our Lady who wishes for all her children to be saved by the sacrificial love of her Son. On Sunday December 11th, after the 11:45 a.m. Mass all the faithful were invited for a presentation on “Mary, Star of Evangelization”. She who was the instrument which brought Christ into the world 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem, continues to be an instrument for Christ to come into our lives today. The presentation was accompanied by delicious tamales. Click here for video.

On Monday December 12th, after greeting the decorated image of Our Lady of Guadalupe displayed in the Church with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, a devoted group of mariachis led us in song to Our Lady at 7 a.m.  In the evening, hundreds of faithful joined us in celebrating the Holy Mass in honor of Our Lady, followed by a wonderful meal in the Three Kings Hall.

May Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, protect us all under her mantle of love, teach us how to love her Son more perfectly and help us to grow as a family in unity and charity.
